On February 19th, 2010 La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda, the
Premier Latino Fraternity in the Nation, celebrates it’s 28th
anniversary. Lambda Upsilon Lambda is the 1st Latino Fraternity to be
chartered at an Ivy league institution. It was founded on February 19th,
1982 at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
The Alpha Chapter at Cornell University will be
commemorating this great anniversary by hosting their annual banquet,
"Noche Dorada”, on Friday the 19th. Noche Dorada is an annual tradition
within the fraternity around the nation and one that has become the most
anticipated event of Cornell’s Latino community. This gallant affair
will boast the finest of Latino cuisine, a live DJ, performances from
various cultures from around the world and an inspirational keynote
speaker, Mr. Ivan Sanchez, chosen to motivate and enrich all in
attendance.
The Hermanos of the Alpha Chapter will also be
awarding the "Elite Emmys,” recognizing different Cornell students,
faculty and groups for their accomplishments. Noche Dorada will be
attended by many Cornell students, faculty and brothers from various
chapters far and near.
The Noche Dorada banquet will be followed by social
festivities also hosted by the Hermanos of Alpha Chapter.
