Founder's Day hosts Stevens Jeopardy!
As part of an ongoing series of Founder's Day events, the Academic
Affairs committee of the Student Government Association (SGA) hosted
Stevens Jeopardy! on Wednesday evening. Representatives from Sigma Nu,
Theta Xi, Omicron Pi, the Chinese Students Association, Sigma Phi
Epsilon, Lambda Upsilon Lambda, Beta Theta Pi and Delta Phi Epsilon
competed. There
were two rounds of four contestants hosted by Michael Manzella. George
Blazeski, SGA senior senator, provided technical support. Stephanie
Spelman, chair of the Academic Affairs committee gave a short address
at the start where she talked about the importance of the Honor System.
Spelman thought "it was a really fun and informative event for all
involved." She praised the audience saying they "made the Jeopardy
event for me" and said "thanks to everyone who came out!" Mary Kelly,
current SGA vice president, acted as a judge. Questions were drawn from
categories such as Hoboken Firsts, Famous Alumni, Greek History,
Stevens Presidents and Stevens Potpourri. Questions also tested the
contestants on their knowledge of Stevens faculty, athletics,
presidents, campus buildings and a special category called "The Spirit
of Stevens." Each round consisted of five questions in each
category worth $100 to $500. Brandon Haverberg, the current SGA
President and representing Sigma Nu, won the first round. Michael
Munley, brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon, won the second round, and Final
Jeopardy consisted of the top four contestants from each round. Michael
Munley ended up winning $50 for himself and $200 for his organization.
Munley was presented with a ceremonial oversized check signed by the
Academic Affairs Committee.
