that are making tremendous strives in different career
fields.
- Senator Juan Pichardo
STATE HOUSE – First term Sen. Juan M. Pichardo,
a democrat from Providence and hermano of La Unidad
Latina, , has been named Senate Deputy Majority
Leader on Minority Issues for the 2003-2004 General
Assembly session.
In addition to Senator Pichardo’s new title,
he also has been appointed to three Senate standing
committees including the Senate Finance Committee,
Senate Financial Services, Technology and Regulatory
Issues Committee, and the Senate Health and Human
Services Committee.
“I am pleased and honored to be named Deputy
Majority Leader on Minority Issues. I am looking
forward to working with the Senate leadership
and increasing awareness about important minority
issues,” said Senator Pichardo (D-Dist.
2). “In addition, I believe my experience
and enthusiasm will be of use in my new Senate
committee assignments and I am eager to get to
work on behalf of my constituents in Providence.”

- Senior Vice President Jason Oliva
At the age of 29, Jason is the
youngest Senior Vice President at Prudential Financial.
He wishes there where others at the firm that share
his Latino background and interest. Nevertheless,
he continues to diligently teach and train others
young Latino financial advisors so that one day
they may be colleagues. Jason‚s cliental currently
consist of high net-worth executives some of which
are Latinos residing in the US and abroad. He feels
that the reason there is so few Latino Investors
is because of lack of knowledge and the fear to
take on risk, the latter may be a result of their
old school ideologies. He hopes by informing others
and by having investor seminars geared to Latinos
that one day his clientele will consist of many
more Latinos. He is currently working on building
an institutional business to complement his book
of retail. Today, he is an active supporter of the
Alzheimer‚s Foundation, the Doe Fund and the
AIDS Foundation. Although Jason has completed a
much in his short time, yet still feels he is just
scratching the surface. Jason has many more goals
to meet. He plans to continue to build his real
estate portfolio, open up a bar/lounge and start
his own community center. Yet, business is not his
only priority. His main love is spending time with
his family and friends. And hopes to start a family
